| Kitten Follow Up |
Saturday 22nd April
This is a photo of Fluffy, who was once known as Hooligan girl in the diaries!! She was then given the name Fluffy, by the children because as a kitten, she was much 'fluffier' than all the others. Fluffy is only her pet name, and it causes me to look embarrassed when I announce her at the vets. I always apologise, and say that I did not choose the name, it was given to her by my 2 children! She is a lovely girl, she likes human company a lot, and spends a lot of time cuddled up to one of us if she has the chance. She is a big girl though, always having had a good appetite.
This photo, I took last night, she was sitting in her favourite place in the kitchen. |

Nia ( now Christmas) and Frodo (Now Noah) have been with their new family for just over 2 weeks now. That time has gone by so fast really, it is hard to believe it has been so long. I have had anothe lovely e mail from their new parents, which I wanted to include here. I laugh so much when I read them, knowing the 2 kittens as I do, I can just imagine everything that is written. Their new parents are lovely ( I am sure they wont mind me saying that!), lovely people, and I cannot thank them enough, for the laughter that I shed when I read their mails late at night. Richard did have to explain what the WWF....was, he explain it was about wrestling and play station games? Anyhow, I will leave you to smile at the words that are written. I have to say that I thought the descrition of fluffed up tails as being test tube cleaners, was BRILLIANT!!! lol I will never look at a fluffed up tail in the same light again!!!
"What a week. We've had a cross between WWF Smackdown and the Grand National going on in the living room most nights, fortunately we haven't had to pay to watch any of it. Once or twice things have turned more towards Ultimate Cat Fighting, which is a bit like Ultimate Cage Fighting but in the cat version you are also allowed to bite. Things haven't actually got out of hand (yet), but some of the action is very physical, it must be over money. A sure indicator of having gone a bit too far is when the 'test tube cleaner tail' is adopted by one or both of the combatants.
Our first vet visit went very well on Monday, the vet was very happy with them both and we decided to have their first leukaemia jab administered at the same time. Noah was particularly brave with the needle and even managed a purr during the procedure, he started rumbling just before the needle was removed (idiot). Christmas was also very good and sensibly stayed schtum. The vet suggested that we return with Noah in a month or so to assess when he can have his snip (and tuck), we'll have him done as soon as possible to hopefully avoid any inappropriate behaviour. We also talked about a mid-line spay for Christmas which should be no problem. They both shouted loudly all the way there and back (its about five minutes in the car), I think they were probably singing 'We're all going on a sum-mer holiday …'. Talking of summer, Noah has a liking for cricket jumpers. Not wearing them, which would be okay, but more, as you might have guessed, chewing them.
Both are eating very well indeed, huge quantities for little ones in fact, but I guess they are still growing fast so there's no need for rationing. A spoonful of seafood Sheba (yuk) with their biscuits seems to go down very well, paella for cats I suppose. Being Siamese they should really be more into Thai curry but I don't fancy cleaning up after them if they tried it. A friend at work was saying the other day how he was tasting his new little kitten's Iams (yuk yuk).
They are growing at such a rate they are a bit like those dehydrated toys that you can get – just add water (and cat food) and they expand to twenty times their original size in twenty four hours. Noah is noticeably taller than Christmas now, but she is doing very well in her own right.
They are still confined to quarters when we are not in at the moment for their safety and our peace of mind. We also have some concerns over our goal keeping ability with two furry footballs and the front door so its much safer for them not to be in the hall when we enter and leave the house. We've spoken to a builder regarding constructing us a porch to make a safe 'airlock' for when we go in and out. I've told Christmas and Noah that as soon as they've got jobs they will have to start paying us back.
I've just had to delete four lines of g's as Christmas decided to help me with this message by standing on the keyboard. I've distracted her with a folded up piece of paper and now she's growling at it on the floor. Noah always looks a bit pensive when she growls so I'm off to give him a cuddle." |

Saturday 15th April
Little Bilbo left us yesterday, for his new home. It was very hard to say goodbye to him, and I did feel very tearful after he had gone. I ended up going out into the garden, where the sun was shining, and pottered around with the plants. It helped to take away that feeling that you have in the pit of your tummy, when you are missing someone.
I tried not to look at my e mail account too early, but when I got the message and photo through from his new mummy, a few hours later, it made me feel heaps better.
He seems to have settled in really well. He seems to have shown no signs of missing ME!!! He has lots of new toys to play with, which he has been enjoying. He has found all the nice places to sleep, and slept under the duvet with his new mummy last night. I think he really must think he is in Heaven!!! He has a new friend to get to know. The new friend is not too sure about Teddy ( that is the name that he is being called now), but I am told that wee Teddy is not hissing or being confrontational in any way, which is how I know my boy to be. In no time at all, they should be cuddled up together.
I have some photos here, of my little boy in his new home, as you will see, he looks very happy, and as lovely as ever. As a breeder, it means so much to us, to know how well our babies are doing, and it also really helps those long nights, when they are very young, knowing how much pleasure they are going to bring to somebody as they grow older. |

I just wanted to include a photo of little, or not so little now, Bilbo, who's pet name is soon to be Teddy. He is going into the big wide world tomorrow, to be loved by his new mummy and new companion cat, named Simba. He is a real sweetie, and we wish him all the best in his exciting new life. I know his new mummy is really looking forward to him joining her. |

I have had another amusing update re Nia and Frodo ( Christmas and Noah now), as usual, I had a good chuckle at their antics, I will also include 2 photos of them in their new home.
Bilbo is leaving us on Friday , so we are having to prepare ourselves to say goodbye to him, as he steps forward into the big wide world. Here are a few sentences re Chrismas and Noah,
"Check up with our vet is booked for Monday coming, I'm sure everything will be okay and we can discuss the necessary forthcoming snip and scoop procedures.
Funny to think they've been here over a week now, they do look like they've grown a bit and they certainly feel like they've put on weight.
Noah likes to play with pencils and Christmas likes paper, perhaps one day they will be a famous writing team. Much of their current work, however, involves biting the pencil and hiding under the paper so there's a fair way to go before its Pulitzer prize time.
Its eleven fifteen and they're just coming alive before bedtime, better batten down the hatches."
Saffy is gradually settling into her new home, but she moved into a lovely home with lots of other cats, so it was always going to take her more time. We are looking forward to going to see her in the not too distant future.

Nia and Frodo, who are now named Christmas and Noah, left us a week ago now. Their lovley new owners have sent me a few emails, that have had me laughing away. I thought I would share a few of their new adventures with you. Nia is now Christmas and Frodo is now Noah.........................
Goodness, Noah seems to think he can fly, perhaps Evel Knievel would be a better name for him. He threw himself off the landing this evening and landed quite heavily in the hall, fortunately the carpet is relatively soft and he did get his undercarriage down before he hit the deck. Silly boy frightened the life out of us but after a brief pause to gather his thoughts he crouched there purring. We checked him over carefully and he seems to be fine and twenty minutes later he was hooning around like a complete idiot chasing his sister. Hopefully he's learnt to be a bit more careful but we've put a long flat cushion and some foam where he landed in case he decides to make a habit of sky diving from the same place.
Christmas was intent on playing with a little folded piece of paper all through the air display and missed the whole thing.
Its fascinating to see how they behave with each other, Christmas is bossier and seems to be in charge when things get serious but at playtime anything goes from either side. Its excellent just to watch them tear around as they take it in turns to hunt and be hunted. I particularly like the vertical take-off surprise jump, all four feet leaving the floor at the same time.
Feel free to use anything we send you, we'll try to sort out some pictures soon but we'll need to work out what size they need to be and how to attach them properly first. You're welcome to visit, I'm sure they will have changed enormously by the end of the summer but they will still be glad to see you! Neither of us is looking forward to going back to work (nothing new there), it would be easy to spend all day, every day playing with them and looking after them.
Christmas is being a little fussy on the food front, she seems to only be liking chicken, biscuits and her brother's ears. Noah seems to be happy with anything, he even polished off his sister's special tuna wet food this evening. We're giving them a rotation of three different sorts of biscuits with a spoonful of posh wet food mixed in at meal times and leaving a dish of biscuits down all the time in case they are peckish. They don't seem to touch the biscuit only option, preferring to wait for the excitement and high jinx that go hand in hand with meal times.
They have been playing rather vigorously today, we will keep an eye on a small nick inside Noah's ear. Either Christmas caught him with her claw or, more likely her teeth, or he's been trying to get his ears pierced. The latter would certainly go with his dare devil image but he's a bit young at the moment. He'll be wanting a motorbike next, Gareth will have to hide the keys for the Norton.
We still find it hard to tell them apart, particularly at high speed from the front so we might get some name badges for them next week. Christmas is not allowed to wear make up yet but when she does a little bit of lippy will help with identification.
Small knitted woolly mice don't stand a chance in our house, they are swiftly and expertly disembowelled. So far Pinky and Custard are no more and Minty would be shaking in his boots if mice wore boots.
I am looking forward to more entertaining e mails over time, and when I get some photos I will also add them onto this diary.
