Well, we reached the week 13 point, and 3 of the kittens have now gone to their new homes. This was always going to be a time of mixed emotions. Sadness for me, because I had to say goodbye to little kittens that I had spent so much time with. Happiness, from seeing the joy of their new parents when they came to collect them.
Sabre went first, the first will always be the hardest. Timothy was very upset, but once he had read that he was happy and settled, he was ok. Then Goldberry, my lovely little girl, was the next kitten to leave. Followed a few hours later by Smeagle, my little crazy guy. All the e-mails and phone calls that I have had, tell me that they are settling in well. They have all used litter trays, eaten, cuddled, played, and not showed too many signs of missing me!!!!!! But that is so good for them, and that is what I strived for while bringing them up. I wanted them to go to their new homes feeling confident and happy. And I wanted them to be kittens that liked to give lots of cuddles. The first 3 have certainly lived up to this.
Next Sunday Kili will go to his new home. And then a couple of weeks later, Arwen leaves us. It has been much easier for me spreading things out in this way. Easier for me, and easier for Lily. I really don’t think she has missed any of them. She has certainly not shown any signs of knowing they are gone.
I will close this diary for this particular litter. But I will give updates from time to time on how these kittens are getting on in their new homes. I am hoping to visit them all in a few months time, so hopefully I can come back from each visit armed with photos to share.
I will now also concentrate on gathering some good photos of Galadriel, the little girl that is staying with us. These will come under the section, which looks at our Queens . Hopefully in about a years time, we will be talking about her pregnancy.
Tigerlily, is going to have a well earned rest after working so hard. She has been absolutely brilliant, and I have never stopped being full of admiration for her. So she is going to have a good 4 months rest, to enjoy the sunshine and hopefully lots of sleeping, as only cat can do.
In today’s last few photos. You will see that Merlyn has finally crossed the ‘bridge’. You will see one of him sleeping with Kili, and then a couple of him cuddled with Lily and kittens. He is much happier now, and as the saying goes, ‘all things come to he who waits’. I waited, I knew he would grow to love them too, so it is a lovely note to end on. |
I am going to write today’s diary in stages. My babies are 13 weeks now, and ready to go to their new homes. Sabre (Fili) has already left us. I have been through a range of emotions, and it has been a difficult time for me. I have been looking at the lovely photographs on Sabre’s own personal web site, he looks just fine and contented. And it seems that he is being a good boy, and settling in fine.
It is a good feeling to know that he has made the move ok. He has been using his litter tray and eating and explored his new home without any problems. It seems as if he has been rather demanding on the attention front! But that is Siamese for you, they just need to be loved, and on their terms….which means all the time!
Tomorrow Smeagle and Goldberry are moving on to their new homes. I am bracing myself for the flood of emotions that I know I am going to feel. Everything is ready for them. They each have their little picnic hamper to take away, and I know they are going to be happy. Smeagle is such an outgoing little boy, I smile to think of all the investigating he is going to do, and hopefully he wont get up to too much mischief!!!! Although somehow I have a feeling that he will. Goldberry, well I hope that she will not be too fussy for her new mum, and that she will eat ok. I know that she is going to be very demanding for strokes and attention, and her speciality of climbing from toe to shoulder in 2 seconds flat and nibbling on hair!
This morning, I saw a first. My Kili came upstairs and cuddled up to Merlyn on the bed! One of the photos shows them cuddled up together. Kili is such a star, and Merlyn was very brave and has just crossed a very big hurdle. Unfortunately, I spoilt it by coming in, sitting at the pc and eating crisp bread with melted cheese!!! I thought that I had learnt my lesson on the one!
Some of the other photos show, well Smeagle being Smeagle. For those ladies reading this diary, he found the box with some feminine things in, and starting racing around the house with them in his mouth, growling!!!! I did laugh, as he looked SO comical! Some of the others show 2 of the kittens, (Kili is in the washing basket) playing on the landing and Goldberry on the banisters.
Arwen’s new parents have just been to visit her again. She is not leaving us until May 4 th, so it was nice for them to see her again. But, as normal, they were all asleep when they arrived!!! It is not the easiest thing to encourage sleeping kittens to come and play. In hind site, I should just have put down some melted cheese, that would have done the trick in an instant!
Now the house is quiet, it is Timothy’s 9 th birthday and he has been playing with his new lego the whole day! I have just said goodbye to some other lovely visitors who came to see my babies. And now I think that I will sit down with the kittens, and close my eyes for half an hour. There is nothing like a kitten cuddle to make you feel good about life.
