Day 85

12:01 Wednesday morning
The sun is shining,

The kittens are fast asleep, and seem to have been for ages now. I think they have worn themselves out over the past few days.

They also had their second vaccinations yesterday, which made them a tad more sleepy yesterday afternoon.

But they gained many admirers at the vet, and the lovely nurse who helped to deliver them, came to say goodbye. And helped me carry them out to the car, I think he was sad to say goodbye!

Young Dilly won his heart, as he, like so many others, thought how pretty she was.

She was not a good girl with her vaccine again though...........and as my vet described it, almost did a vertical jump when he attempted to put the needle in.

But we got there in the end.

They were all well behaved, if not a little noisy in the car going!! Fortunately it is only a 5 minute drive.

Merri is not totally happy with leaping in and out of the cat flap, and chasing flies in the conservatory and outside run.

It made me realise how big he was, as when he was at the end of the run, I thought it was just another one of the adults!! He has lovely long legs, making him quite tall.

I am off out now, I want to buy some bits and pieces for Merri and Ella for Friday, when they leave me for their new adventure.

I am trying not to think of it as them going, but more of them starting something new and exciting, it is a strange mix of emotions that is difficult to describe.

I will sign off now, I might just go and take 2 photos of them, all asleep on my bed.........they are getting big now, and I normally find one or two curled up on me when I wake in the morning!!

Day 84

08:17 Tuesday morning
Well, some of the kittens have at last managed to work out how to use the cat flap into the conservatory!

Merri has been happily playing out there, chasing flies, as has Dilly. I am not sure the other 3 have yet though.

Merri is my big ,purry cuddly boy, who has just climbed onto my lap for a cuddle. He really is a sweetheart, but Paul and Sue are going to know that he has arrived on Friday!!! I have a feeling he is going to make his arrival known!!!

Scarlet has turned into quite a character too, I woke to find her sleeping on the side of my face this morning, well, I think it was her, it was either she or Merri. But it was nice and warm on that side of my face!!

Fluffy ( as in one of the older cats) is still trying to steal as much food as she can. It is becoming a problem keeping the kitten food away from her. And after her trip to the vets yesterday, for her vaccinations, and she being weighed...........she DOES need to cut back on her food.

I have stopped her stealing the pouches, by locking them away, so now she had moved onto the kitten food.

These little guys are so big now, and they seem to hardly ever sleep. When they are awake ( most of the time) they are demanding food, the litter tray is needing to be cleaned out constantly, and they are yelling to be picked up and cuddled...................I actually found myself pleading with them, at one point yesterday,

"please, babies, please, please go to sleep, just for an hour!!!"

Things have started to go missing, as they play with them, and take them away and hide them somewhere!!!

It seems to have quietened down here now, briefly, so they must be having a 10 minute nap. So I will take this chance and go and catch up on some jobs, I may even catch a photo of something rare, as in a kitten asleep !!!!

Day 83

20:00 Sunday night
Well, it has been a few days since I have written a diary entry, and we are now entering the last few days of this particular diary. It is only a short period of time now, before the first babies take their new steps to their new homes.

I look at them now, and I think they are probably getting ready for their new adventures.

They have grown so much, and in the past few days, I have noticed Lily not sleeping with them much in the day time, so they are learning to live life without their mother with them every step of the way.

All 5 of them are curled up on their bed on my bed. And this afternoon, some of them cuddled up to me and slept. Lily is calling again, so her thoughts are elsewhere, poor love.

Their little personalities have really grown over the past few weeks, and I am sure that they are all going to be really happy in their new homes.

Merri and Ella, are lovely kittens, and should be really happy together.

Sapphira, or Sapphy as she is currently called ( she was our little Rappy) is a sweet little girl, and Arwen is going to love her.

Young Dilly is become such a pretty young thing, and she purrs heaps. Smeagle is going to love her, once he gets to know her. They are going to make such a pretty couple!

They are eating lots more now, and trying new types of food.

I have been giving them some of Natures Choice kitten pouches, and they seem to quite like them.

They love to try to steal their mum's tuna fish, but it can be a bit rich on their tummies, so I try to feed her when they are not around, as she just lets them have it all!!

Dilly is probably the most fussy, as she is not so keen on the whiskers when I put it down, all the others will eat it. But she will yell at me for something else.

She likes the Applaws, or the Natures Menu, or fish, chicken, or she loves the Almo Nature that I have been buying from my local pet shop. I have left their shelves bare of it!

On Tuesday, they go along for their last vaccinations, and their last check up from my vet. It seems such a long journey since they were born there, all those weeks ago, 12 weeks to be precise.

They were so small and vulnerable then, and now they have grown into large beautiful young cats. With all their lives ahead of them. I have a complete mix of emotions, the sadness at seeing them leave, coupled with the excitement for them. with the lovely families that they are going to, and the happiness I know they are going to bring!

08:16 Monday morning
Well, I could tell they are growing up last night, as when I woke in the early hours of the morning, they seem to have taken up the whole of the bed, and I found a couple of them pinning my legs down from on top of the duvet, so that moving around was almost impossible! I felt my legs ache this morning when I got up, from laying in the same position for too long!

Day 80

09:56 Friday morning
My apologies for not adding an entry yesterday. I had planned to do so, but the virus I have been fighting for a while, seems to have come back, and I thought I would grab a few minutes sleep before writing yesterday.

Well, I lay down at 11am..............and at 15:00, I woke up, to the sound of my alarm........and had to dash off to get the children. The virus has triggered my asthma, so it is probably why it is making me so tired.

I still feel very tired this morning, so I am going to head off for some more rest. I need to make sure I have energy for the evenings, when the cats and kittens are lively, and the children are here.

Poor Rich last night, kept telling me to go to bed, and I kept explaining to him, why I could not just go to bed!!!!!

11 hungry cats, and 10 cats using litter trays, you cannot just go to bed and leave them!!!!! So I do try to grab my rest this time of day when the cats are sleepy, ( well, by the sound of it, the kittens are NOT sleepy!!!, neither were they at 6 this morning..........or midnight last night..............).

I am glad to report that the kittens have bundles more energy than I currently have.

When I open a cupboard door in the kitchen, a kitten seems to fly in it from no where..........they are on the surfaces the minute they think there might be food............they are FAST and quick witted with it!!! I had forgotten how much energy and speed they have at this age, as my older Siams have become a little more sedate in their approach to life!!

I tried to stay in my bed at 6 this morning........but they had decided that they wanted under the duvet, not to sleep, I hasten to add, but to attack any part of my body that moved.................

So I waded through the pile of mess in Rich's room, removed all the clothes that had found their way on top of the duvet on the bottom bunk, and slept there for the last hour.

I have not taken any photos this morning, as they are all far too fast, and all that you would get is a blur...................they are thundering around upstairs as I type, so I may have to retire back to the tip that doubles up as Rich's bedroom!!

But I am glad they have so much energy, because that shows to me how healthy and happy they are.

Day 78

09:43 Wednesday morning
I must type this quickly, as I have to go to the hairdressers for midday, and I want to make sure that everything is sorted here before I leave. I need to make sure all have plenty of food and clean cat litter, and nice warm beds to sleep in.

The kittens are great at bed time, when I turn off the light, they one by one come and jump on the bed. They know where to sleep, and they all cosy up in the cat bed on my bed, with Lil. I am surprised that none try to get under the duvet.

Then, almost on cue, they wake just before 6am. That is my cue to crawl out of bed, and into Rich's empty bed next door, and grab a last hours sleep. I look at them bleary eyed as I do so, and wonder how they can be so lively at that time in the morning!

I just wish Rich's bedroom was not such a hazard to walk through in the dark, and that he would jolly well tidy it up!!! I think I mentioned yesterday, that I crawled under the duvet, to find the tomato ketchup bottle!!

The kittens are well and truly on the kitchen surfaces now. Nothing is safe in this house!! I find all sorts of thing pushed on the floor, either in my bedroom, the bathroom or in the kitchen. Things are moved where I cannot find them, and chaos seems to rule everywhere!!! The boys love the kittens at this stage, as they are such fun to play with, and they make us laugh for hours. In only just over a weeks time, the first 3 will leave us. I just can't believe it has come by this fast!!! I am glad that Dilly will be staying 3 weeks longer, as it will make it easier for Lily, still having the 2 left. Hopefully then she wont miss the others going. She never has done before, so paws crossed this time too.

They are eating so very much now though. Sometimes I feel like I am continually filling up their bowls!!!

Dilly has just come running down the stairs, and joined me on the chair. Catherine is going to love her. Tim adores Dilly, which is a coincidence, as he also loved Smeagle the best out of that litter, so Catherine is going to have the 2 kittens that won Tim's heart! I must sign off now, as I wish to post some photos before getting the hoover out.

I tried to take a few of the older Siams in the conservatory, so if they have come out ok, I will add them to today's entry.

Day 77

10:11 Tuesday morning
Tuesday mornings are always a bit slow getting going , as we are late from Scouts the night before.

This morning, I failed to wake up AGAIN !!!!!! I was woken, by a disgruntled Richard. ( I had escaped to his room around 5 this morning, only to find under the duvet, a large bottle of tomato ketchup, which he had obviously failed to return downstairs....)

He grumbled to me that it was 07:30, and that I had to get up, I mumbled him to go away as I was tired, and told him to do a few jobs for me, including getting me a mug of tea.........it seemed to work too!!!

I eventually got them off to school. And I am now sat at the main computer, with a kitten on my lap, and another curled up to the side of me, and Dilly asleep on the window sill behind me. The other 2 kittens are upstairs, asleep with Lily.

I am glad they are starting to spread out a bit more, as it will help Lily when they start to go, which is only just under 2 weeks now. The first 3 will go that weekend, leaving Dilly here for another 3 weeks, plus the one staying, so hopefully that will make the transition easier for Lil. I then want to see her starting to sleep with the other cats again.

Fluffy has developed this irritating habit, of taking all the sachets of Whiskers kitten food out of their box, breaking into the sachet and eating the contents, so I have started to put them too high for her to reach.

This morning, in my sleepy haze, I forgot and left them on the kitchen surfaces.

So when I came home from school, there they all were, scattered all over the conservatory floor, kitten food everywhere, chewed pouches.........and a very smug looking Fluffy!!!!!!! Her belly is getting too round from all her thieving. I caught her in the act of trying to run off with Percy's sachet yesterday, I caught her just as she was about to leg it through the cat flap, with her 'kill', into the conservatory. She gave me a very hacked off look as I took it off her!!!

Little Saffy ( who was Rappy) has just leapt on my lap for a cuddle and a purr, such a sweet pretty little girl. She is going to join Jane and Tim, to be a little sister to Arwen. I know Arwen is going to love her.

I must stop now, and try to attach some photos which I have hastily taken this morning.

I desperately need to hoover the house today, but I think sleep might win over today, as I was late sleeping last night!! How can so many little paws, traipse soooo much cat litter over the house!! ( I have just realised, I just took Saffy upstairs to find mum, as she was calling for her, and came back to realise that I have Merri AND Dilly asleep on the chair behind me, purring away, sooo sweet.
