| Day 59 |
21:45 Thursday night
Well, the kittens slept for a couple of hours later in the after noon, and since about 7pm, they have been AWAKE .........and yes, awake with capital letters. They seem to be running on full tanks of energy this evening............eating heaps, now on their 4th plate of food..........it is almost like a feeding frenzy before they sleep for a few hours!!!
They didn't wake me until 06:30 this morning, so I had a few more hours sleep!
The cat litter situation, seems to be resolving itself, re weaning them off Cat Attract. My delivery never arrived yesterday, so I had to resort to using the tesco's paper based litter, they sniffed and looked at me confused at first, but needs must, and they are now using it. The trouble with it is, that it is very light, and their little paws are shoveling it everywhere, so I am permanently with a dustpan and brush!!
12:39 Friday afternoon now.
I didn't get to write any more last night, as things livened up, kittens running everywhere, cat litter flying everywhere, bowls being cleaned up almost as soon as I put them down. So finally, when they were settled, I joined them in going to sleep. And they were very good this morning, they did not wake me up until 7am, but they have been very lively ever since. But they are due soon their afternoon sleep. They are all currently settling down on my bed, where the sun is shining, so I have taken a few photos of them, which I will upload onto this machine shortly. They all look so peaceful when they are dreaming.
I wont submit an entry now, until Monday, as it is going to be busy over this Easter weekend. But hopefully I will get the chance to take lots of photos to share with you on Monday.
Can I wish you all a very Happy Easter |

| Day 58 |
13:52 Wednesday morning
Well, all the feline members of the house, have just settled down for their afternoon kip. Bellies full, legs worn out from running up and down the stairs, and the warm sun from the bedroom window.
I was late again last night............2am before I got to sleep, and then Tim's mobile phone alarm suddenly went off around 5am, I was charging it for him, then my alarm went off at 7am, as I needed to get Tim up for his morning session in school. Lack of sleep catches up with you, and I did have to have a little doze mid morning. Although it was not easy to sleep. Every now and then, one kitten would come into my room, squealing and looking for me ( I was submerged under the duvet), but I had Rich on kitten watch so that I could doze.
When I did finally emerge from the duvet, I found all 5 kipping in the kitten bed, with Lily. The squeals I must have been hearing, must have been as each kitten made their way onto the bed to find mum.
They just had a large lunch of freshly cooked white fish, and some slightly mashed up kitten whiskers. For breakfast, they had some Applaws kitten food, with a drop of evaporated milk. The food that I had left out at 2am, when I went to bed, had all been eaten. So they are tucking it away at the moment.
They have well and truly broken out of the landing now. When they are awake, they have the upstairs, hallway and stairs. Fluffy and Gollum, tend to watch them from the kitchen surfaces, Carrie from the top of the scratching post in the hallway, and G, depending on where she is at the time. Lily is relaxing more each day, with them all being so close now. But you can still see that she watches the older ones quite keenly. They watch her too, they know who is in charge here. Actually, I find it quite touching to see how Lily keeps everyone in the house in 'order'. She has that air of, 'I'm special, I'm your mum or grand mum, and I expect you to do as I tell you', lol, a bit like me with my children!!!

The photos I am going attach today, were taken half an hour ago, just as they were starting to settle down. Oh yes, just in case I forget tomorrow.
I wont be adding an entry on Saturday or Sunday, as I am going to be busy with visitors etc over the Easter weekend. Easter Monday is Timothy's birthday, but I should be able to add a little piece then.
And next Wednesday, they are off for their vaccinations. They really are growing up now!!

| Day 57 |
21:39 Monday evening
Ok, I am TIRED with capital letters tonight. For one reason and another, lively cats/kittens and dodgy tummies with my children, I got about 2 hours sleep last night. I eventually managed to put my head on the pillow just before 4am. And at 6am , Philip woke us all up, ( me and the cats) by turning on all the lights, getting in the shower, making a lot of noise, and then slamming the front door as he left to to go the airport. By the time he had slammed the front door, every cat in the house was awake, so there was no way I could sleep.
So I got up, saw to the older ones down stairs, let Percy outside, fed the little ones upstairs, saw to Lily, and then had a very strong cup of tea.
Although it is Easter Holidays for the children, as Timothy has SATS coming up in May, as a year 6, he is expected in school for 4 mornings this week. That means that there is no lay in or the chance to go back to bed. And I they both had a friend round this afternoon and the cinema to go to.
OK, I laughed at Mr Bean, and feeling so tired, I needed that laugh.
The kittens, 8 weeks today, are much bigger, and stronger, and they can leap over the barriers now. Thankfully, Lil is more relaxed with the other cats and the kittens, but when the kittens are awake, I do have to be there, just to make sure.
Fluffy and G are curious, and sniff them, Gollum and Carrie are still scared. It is funny in a way, as they come close, sniff, and then run away. I mean, the size of Gollum and Carrie, compared to the wee kittens.
We'll get there. I had the same problem with Merlyn with the first litter. Lil wouldn't let him near the babies until they were 9 weeks old. She is just an over loving mum, bless her.
The kittens are eating lots more now. their choice of food, and quantity is going up rapidly, as they do not really feed from Lil at the moment. They have the odd suckle, but it is primarily comfort sucking now.
They are enjoying mashed up roast chicken, and they like it mixed with a little evaporated milk!! They like freshly cooked white fish.
Mashed up Applaws kitten food, again, with a little bit of evap milk.
Mashed up whiskers kitten food, with a little bit of warm boiled water.
I mix some liquivite in with their food sometimes as well, as they like it, and it does have extra vitamins etc in it.
They are brilliant with the litter trays, they just don't wee anywhere else. Cat Attract is amazing for litter training, compared to the wood chip I have used before. But from next week, I will start to mix a little paper based cat litter with it.
Their beautiful little Chocolate faces, are developing beautifully, and little Skippy is a lovely little Lilac girl. Such a pretty pale lilac.
They are all asleep on my bed at the moment, just prior to their bed time half hour mad hour. When they are awake, they like to be where I am. If I am in my room, they play in here, if I am in the kitchen, they like to break out, and be down stairs by me, and when I dim the lights at bed time, and get ready for bed, they all slowly start to settle down, and cuddle up on my bed. I know I am biased, but they are so gorgeous, such friendly little souls. And if you could see Lil now, she is such a devoted mum.

| Day 56 |
18:42 Sunday night
I am sorry that there have not been many diary entries over the past few days. I was feeling really tired and poorly. And then on Saturday Jane and Tim came to visit the babies. And last night I took a few hours out, as I felt I needed a break. So now I hope to start to catch up.
It was wonderful to see Jane and Tim again. They have Arwen from Lily's first litter, Smeagle and Lady G's sister. So we are excited about her having a new little sister to join her. Jane was also with me for the birth of G's babies last year, so it was lovely to be able to share with her, these kittens.
Tim ( her husband, not to be confused with my Tim!)took some lovely photos of the kittens, so I am hoping they will attach ok to go with this diary entry. They have come out much better than any I have taken!!! So thank you for those Jane!
The babies are awake now ( it seems wrong now, almost, to call them babies, as they seem to be growing so big now! ) Skippy has just appeared in the doorway, with her tail all fluffed up. They have learnt that sideways walk, when they are playing, where their tails all fluff up, really funny to watch.
Lily is not really feeding them much now. They suckle in the night, but sometimes I think that is more for comfort. But as Lil has been calling, she has not wanted to sit with them that much. When they are awake, she is still sat there on guard, as she is now. She just sits, watches and grumbles.
Yesterday, when Tim and Jane were here, I had to laugh. The 4 Chocolate ones were all resting in their bed, and Skippy was chasing after her mum in the bathroom. Lil obviously got fed up with her, as I turned to see Lil, grab Skip by the scruff of the neck, and bring her back into the room, to join the others. It just looked amusing at the time. Lil had obviously decided that her daughter needed to be settled down.
8 weeks tomorrow, I can hardly believe it!!!

| Day 53 |
12:31 Friday
I am still feeling poorly today. And I have had a really busy start to the day. So I hope that you will forgive me, if I take some time out now, and catch some sleep while the cats are all sleeping. I will try to write a lot tonight, with photos, to be posted tomorrow. |
| Day 52 |
19:46 Wednesday evening
Typing this is a logistical nightmare, as I have 3 kittens trying to swarm all over this machine, and it is causing havoc with my typing. I am sat on the bed with my lap top, so it is easy access for such little paws! I am going to attempt to watch Scotland play Italy on the television at the same time. Any typing errors, please blame on little paws, as it is hard to fend them off when they leap from nowhere!!
The fun seems to be to leap at my fingers as they hastily type the words!
Lily is wandering around the room grumbling, I suspect she may be close to calling again. She usually does after about 7 weeks, and it has been 7 weeks now.
They have been sleepy babies nearly all afternoon though, so very quiet. And they were also very quiet while I slept this morning. Occasionally I was aware of little noses sniffing my hair. But they have not learnt to burrow under the duvet yet.
Merry has just come for a cuddle, or rather I caught him as he was leaping over the keyboard, and then gave him a cuddle.
The photos that I have taken today, were taken in the late afternoon, while they were sleeping on my bed, next to qqq ( kitten typing there, that was Rappy saying Hi)
There is a smell of burning coming up the stairs, as I have just realised that I forgot to turn the oven off, which means the cats now have burnt roast chicken, groan............and I was looking forward to eating some of it as well. It has been cooking for just over 3 1/4 hours now, so nicely roasted!!!!!!!! I am sure I will be able to find some bits on it that are still edible.
We laid bunny to rest this afternoon. The sun was shining, and Richard dug me a hole under our cherry tree. And we placed a planter with heather in it, above the spot. |

| Day 51 |
09:48 Wednesday morning
A sleepy me this morning! Ahem but I was in bed before midnight for a change, well, just, 11:46 to be precise!!!
I am noticing these babies becoming less reliant on their mum now, and Lily becoming less anxious about them when they are awake. Lil is currently sleeping next to me, by my pillows and the babies are to the left of me, in the cat bed. They are snuggled up in the 2 woolly items of clothing that Catherine left here for them on Sunday. We do this, so that when her little girl goes home to meet the wonderful Smeagle ( I so cannot wait to see him again) , she will have something in her cat basket that smells familiar. Last time, Smeagle left with a lovely grey mohair type cardigan, and by the time we went to see him at around 6 months, it had more holes than wool!!! I have a photo of it somewhere, I must search it out.
The 4 older Siams are asleep in all the beds downstairs. So all is calm.
Until, I decide, after writing this, to lay down and have a doze.
Cue every single cat and kitten to wake, and decide they are no longer tired, they are hungry, AGAIN and they want their trays cleaned out AGAIN !!!! Bless them. But how can you not when they are so cute and loving.
G and Fluffy have been sneaking up here to have a good sniff while the kitties and Lil sleep. I have to encourage them to do this more and more.
They are really enjoying the Applaws chicken kitten food, and came running this morning for it, obviously hungry. I am mixing a little liquivite in with it too, to give them some added minerals and vitamins, and they seem to really like the mix. They are also enjoying the freshly cooked fish and tuna mix. Chicken is the next menu to introduce to them.
I am really enjoying having them sleeping in my room. I have never done this with such young babies before, as I thought they would keep me awake all night, so I have been pleasantly surprised.
In the photos today, you will see one of our little girls, the biggest Choc in the litter, sleeping in the bed all on her own, taking in the sun, a lovely one of Lily, and one of them cuddled in the cat bed, in between Rich and Tim, who were watching the television.
The boys really love these kittens, especially at the age they are now. Timothy, I think, has bonded most with Skippy, and Rich with the largest Chocolate girl.
Me, I just love them all now. |

| Day 50 |
19:58 Monday night
It has been a much quieter day today, as the kids actually went back to school, and it was just myself and the cats at home.
Lily and the kittens have really moved into my bedroom now, and they slept on their little bed, on my bed last night. They were very good, although I think I was aware of some movement during the night. But as I did not get to bed until 01:00 I think I was so tired, that I would have slept through anything!
What I like about having them in my room at night time, is when I wake up in the morning. They trot over to me and snuggle up. It is a really nice way to wake up. Then of course, I am expected to get up and feed them, downstairs and upstairs!
The weather has been nice today, so they have all been able to enjoy some sunshine. This gave me a pang of sadness, as I realised that poor Annie was not going to enjoy the sunshine anymore. It is sad that her last week, saw such cold weather. I will get used to her not being there, but at the moment, it feels strange, and the garden seems empty without her in her run. I also had a few pangs as I walked around Sainsburies today, as I realised that I no longer needed to buy any supplies for bunny.
But the kittens are full of beans when they are awake. Lil does seem to be getting more relaxed when they are tearing about. I am hoping that as she relaxes, she will be more welcoming to the other cats coming up to see the babies. I really want to get them all integrated as soon as possible now. I miss having the older ones upstairs with me. But the babies are gorgeous, so cuddly and so friendly. Skippy is still a little monkey, but she looks so sweet and pretty, I can gaze at her little face for ages.
Only 6 more weeks, and they start to leave me, and I am going to miss them so!
10:00 Tuesday morning.
I am always tired on a Tuesday, as scouts makes it a late night, and this morning is no exception. So I am going to mail this across to be put on my diary page, and then I am going to grab an hours zzzzzzzzz's.
The kittens slept with me again last night, I like that routine that we are now in, it is comforting to have them and Lil here. They are currently running like mad things about the bedroom, so when I lay down in a mo, I will have to bury myself under the duvet, in order to get some peace, and then they should start to get the message and settle down.
The older ones are sat in the sun in the outside run, watching the birds that they dream of catching!
Percy is in the lounge, sleeping on the sofa, lol, he has the best room in the house!!! But he is off to the vets for a check up this afternoon. He is an old man now, bless him.
Photos will come along a little later, as I feel that if I do not sleep now, my head will droop, and hit the keyboard of this lap top!!! |
| Day 49 |
Well, it has been a very busy Sunday for me, but that is probably a very good thing, because it has not allowed my to dwell on my dear bunny, that left us last night. There were a couple of times first thing this morning, when 2 tracks were played on the radio, and I felt tears in my eyes. I can't remember the group as I type tonight, but the first was the one, titled, I saved a life tonight', and I was hit by this terrible pang, that I did not manage to save bunnies life. I know it was a bit of an irrational thought, but it hurt to think, that I wanted to save bunnies life.
But I had to be busy. The clocks had gone forward, to we had lost an hours sleep, and I needed to be up and about, to get the animals organised, as I had 2 lots of visitors today.
We had 2 lovely visits, from new families for my babies. I always worry that everyone is going to behave when people come to see them, and today, the kittens were in sleep mode, BIG time!!! Why to they do this to me. I write here about how crazy and lively they are, and for 4 hours today, they could hardly bring them selves to wake up!!! What it does mean though, is that tomorrow........they will wake with a vengeance!!! And there will only be me here to keep them company.
It was really nice to meet people today. And I thank them all for such a lovely time. Catherine, I know already, as she has loved my darling Smeagle for 2 years now. She is a wonderful mummy to him, and I cannot wait to go and see him again. He was a really special kitten, and I have attached a photo of him, which she has mailed to me.
Merry's new family, and hopefully a little sister too, also came to visit. It was the first time we had met, They are such lovely people and will make wonderful new parents. I feel very lucky.
At the moment they are all asleep ( STILL) next to me, in a cat bed, on my bed, with Lil with them. The others are downstairs with Richard. Lily does not want them up here, so they are respecting her wishes. But I am really going to have to start encouraging her to let them up. Actually, she is fine with G, but Gollum and Carrie, she looks at me, with that look, that says, I am watching them...............
I have just taken a few photos, with them laying as they are now, next to me. Although Lily has lain down now after washing them. Next weekend, I can't wait to see Jane and Tim again. Arwen's mummy and daddy I Arwen was Smeagle's sister, and is a very beautiful young lady). They are having a new baby to join the also.
Only 6 more weeks!!!! I can hardly believe that. |
