Day 76

09:37
Below is the reason why this diary entry is short, and no photographic evidence, as I have to be away in half hour, and need to wash my hair and get dressed!!!!!

Rich comes into his bedroom, where I am sleeping....
"mum, It's eight 'o' clock...."
"Go away Richard, you are NOT going on the PS2 this early"
"MUM, IT'S 8 O CLOCK!!! "
" Wake me in another hour then"
"MUM, it's MONDAY"
"Monday ? What about Monday, ???????Go away"
"Mum, it's MONDAY..........you know , school.........."
"eh......?????"

At which point the penny dropped, that at that precise second in time, I should be in the car driving him to school......

Mum leaps out of bed, throws dressing gown on, finds sunglasses, mumbles something about grab something to eat. R throws on school uniform and cleans teeth, and we both bundle into the car.

Phew, thankfully Tim is off to the Nuffield hospital this morning, so I did not have to raise him. I have NEVER over slept like that before!!!!!!!

On returning, I have whizzed around, litter trays, feeding cats, sorting Percy out...........phew, stopped Fluffy in mid flight as she was legging it off with Percy's sachet of cat food.........

Tim has to have his arm measured to make new casts for him, so I must dash now. Hopefully tomorrow will be more civilized and I will make up for it with heaps of photos!!!!!!!!

Day 75

10:09 Sunday morning.
Please forgive the lack of diary entries this week. My health has deteriorated again, and I am just managing to keep on top of all the chores that I have to do for all my cats and children.

I had a late night, with some slightly upsetting news from some very good friends of mine, so I am also worrying about them, and sleep did not come easy last night.

The kittens on the other hand, are full of life and bounce this morning, and I have been given many scratches, as they have launched myself up my legs and my back. I can feel that tell tale stinging feeling of having kittens use me as a scratching post.

They woke me at 5am, so I abandoned ship, and went into Rich's empty bed, where I slept through to 9pm. The trouble with that, is desperate cats and kittens, wanting to know how I had dared to sleep that long and neglect them!

All seen to now, and I have given up on good parenting, and the boys are on the PS2, as I need a little more sleep.

My babies are beautiful,

Merri is a gem, and growing very handsome.

Scarlet is becoming a right little monkey, and keeps escaping into the lounge whenever I go in there, and I have to watch her like a hawk when I open the front door, as she appears from nowhere

Ella is just a lovely steady girl, who eats well and likes her cuddles

Dilly is growing into a very beautiful girl, and anyone who sees the litter, seem to single her out as the most pretty

And Sapphira, has the most beautiful dark blue eyes and dark chocolate face, making her quite stunning to look at.

Ella has just come to sit on my lap, the rest are on the window sill trying desperately to knock off all the trophies that Lily has won!!!

The adults are basking in the sunshine in the outdoor run. That has been a blessing, and with the weather so very fine, they have positively thrived out there.

I apologise for a distinct lack of photos. I am hoping that after a little sleep, I will manage to take some, as I don't plan on going far today, apart from hanging close to my phone and eating round my mothers later in the day.

I wish you all a lovely Sunday.

Day 73

10:14 Friday morning
Ah, it is almost the weekend, and how quickly this week has flown past, where does the time go to!!!

Percy came home from the vets, with a large wound and bald patch. But he seems fighting fit, much more back to his old self, now we have him off the medication. So I am hopeful that he will be ok now, and the other gland wont flare up.

Lily had a meeting with him yesterday. The babies were in the hallway, when Percy wanted to come through. He looked suitable horrified, at all these small white things, Lily started to take on her,

'look at me I am big and scary' image.

Percy was having none of it, and stared her in the eye. Lily realised this one was brave enough to stand up to her, and she legged it up the stairs..............

It was actually quite funny to watch, and not a hiss from either or them, just that look of the eye, that told her, that on this occasion, she was not the boss, and Percy was most defintely hugely bigger than her!!! Poor Percy, he has never taken to the Siamese, hence he leads a peaceful life in the lounge.

The kittens, are doing grand. They are eating huge amounts. They steal their mum's tuna food, and to my surprise, she lets them!!!

They steal the older Siams food downstairs, when they can.

They eat the whiskers kitten food, the Applaws, the cooked white fish, the chicken. They love this most, chopped up, with some of the 'fat/juice' from the bottom of the roasting pan. That was going down like water at bed time last night.

I think Merri is eating some of the cat biscuits now, but I have not actually seen any of the others eat them as yet.

I love to call to them as I climb to the top of the stairs, and rest my nose on the top, by the landing, and they all come and run over, and give me a sniff/kitten kiss, purring away. Then they rub up to my face, still purring, which is really cute.

These little guys are so friendly and trusting, I really do feel quite close to them. Even young Dilly is getting much more cuddly and less wild.

Well, I am going to go and seek out some relaxation for an hour now, the kittens are on my bed with mum. The older Siams are in the conservatory, where it is warming up nicely, but they are still sleeping on the bed with the heated pad!!! It seems it can never be too hot!!! I have made a little tent over the heated pad, so they have a nice snug area.

And every now and then, they will go into the outside run, to listen to the birds and feel the warm sun. None of the kittens have even tried the cat flap yet, which really really surprises me, as they watch the older ones going in and out all the time!!! I can't wait to see my first escapee out of the cat flap!!!

Day 72

10:47 Thursday morning
Well, our dear Percy is at the vets as I type. He is our large black moggy, whom we took in while living in Aberdeen. He is hopefully having one of his thyroid glands removed, as it is not functioning properly. He was a good boy when I took him in, but I will be pleased to get him home later on.

The 5 adult Siams are enjoying the fine weather, and are very active as I type. Going in and out of the cat run, to this room where the sun is.

They don't go upstairs, as Lil wont allow them up there!!!!!!! So when they mix with the kittens it is down stairs.

I took Gollum out for a walk on his lead last night, as he likes to stretch his legs a bit further, and it was such a fine evening.

The kittens were more sleepful last night, thankfully. They settled down for mid night, and did not wake me till 6 this morning, so that was a blessing. No middle of the night cleaning of litter tray!!! And they seem to be still asleep now, so I think they wore themselves out yesterday!!!

Although I know the minute I go upstairs, and they see me, they will all prick up their little ears, and speak to me, and want to come over to say hello, and then the wide awake antics will begin!!

I have not taken any photos yet today, as I was concentrating on Percy this morning. I will try to do some later on, if time allows. It depends what time I get the call from the vets, and what time I have to go to collect him.

Long may this weather continue, it makes all the cats happier!!!

Day 71

21:17 Tuesday night.
I am trying to upload a video on You tube as I type this. The last time I tried it would not load, so I am really hoping it does this time, as it has the shots of 3 kittens playing with the small Dalek talking object. The love it !! I don't know, you buy them all these toys, but at the end of the day, they prefer something that they have stolen off the top of Tim's birthday cake!!!

Richard got so fed up with it while trying to sleep tonight, that he shouted out,

'can you please take that toy away from them mum, it is really getting on my nerves'. Needless to say I didn't!! They are all just settling down now, and I am hoping that they may just stay that way, long enough for me to creep into bed, in half an hour.

After I had signed off this morning, and went to lay down for half an hour, that half an hour became 2 1/2 hours.............I couldn't believe it when I woke up! But I do seem to have a bit of a grotty throat again, so it is probably because my body is a bit under the weather ( again..........) that I am kipping so much in the day. But I do need to, to keep me going all evening, with kids and animals, and to stop me getting so tired that I get bad tempered.

I really love these babies now ( as I have always done), I think what I mean, is that their little personalities are really coming out, and I am beginning to feel aware, that it is not long before they start to leave me. So I am becoming a little more 'clingy' towards them, and hugging them that little bit more. I know they are all going to have wonderful lives, as they are going to such lovely homes, but it is at this point, that I wish I could sit them down, and talk to them, like I do my own kids, and explain to them what is going to happen. But when I see them in their new homes, so obviously happy, it makes me feel so happy for everyone. It makes all those late nights and worry so worthwhile.

I am going to sign off now, and see if the video has uploaded, and then write a closing sentence in the morning. I am so looking forward to settling down under the duvet again soon!!!

96% loaded, so it's looking good !!!

09:44 Wednesday morning
Well, they were lively little monkeys last night,

they woke at 02:30, and all proceeded to use the litter tray, prompting me to get out of bed and clear it out.....

they woke again at 05:30, flying over me in bed as if I was a bouncy castle, and using the litter trays again......

And they are STILL awake.........phew

so I am going to sign off now, go and feed them AGAIN and then try to grab a little sleep!!!

Day 70

09:39 Tuesday morning
I am always tired on a Tuesday morning, as we don't get back from Scouts until gone 21:30 and then I have to see to all the animals, who are really keen to have us back, and all wake up demanding attention! And then there is the kids to coerce into bed, and of course, they both claim they are not tired, and want to play with the kittens. Despite the fact they are yawning their heads off!!!

Here is a little extract that I have just written for someone else, it seems silly to write it twice, so I have copied it,

"Last night, on returning from a tiring night at scouts.........
I put children to bed ( of the non furry kind),
sit down to check out e mails........

And from upstairs, I can hear the unmistakable sound of

'exterminate, exterminate.........'

Well, we don't have Daleks living with us........

I shouted up,
'boys, stop messing around and go to sleep'

'Mum, we are in bed, it's not us....'

I go upstairs, and laugh, as I see all 5 kittens batting around this cylindrical ball, which every now and then emits the words 'exterminate'......

They seem to love this,
and I realise they are playing , with the part of Tim's birthday cake. His cake was a Dalek, and it had one of those things with it, which when you press, talks to you.
Kitties had obviously found this, and were having a great time getting it to 'talk to them'"

They were all playing with it again this morning, and it became my early morning alarm call.

If they play with later in the day, I will try to get a short video clip to attach to today's entry!

Things in the house are settling down so much better now.

Although kittens and adults are not playing together, they are co existing in the same parts of the house, so we have reached 'tolerance, and I am not quite so scared of the little things' stage. I shall get really excited when I see one of the babies cuddled up with the older ones, but to do that, they have to work out how to use the cat flap, to get into the conservatory. I am surprised that none of them has done so as yet, because they are often in the kitchen, watching the older ones come and go. I remember Gollum, last year, desperately trying to get through the cat flap. These babies have not show any interest.

They are still eating me out of house and home though!!! Phew, can they tuck it away!!!

And if they are hungry, and their bowls are not full of food, they come after me, and tell me all about it!!! I love it when they chase after me when I go upstairs with a fresh plate of food for them, I feel like the Pied Piper, lol.

I am away to grab half an hours sleep, while babies are quiet, and hopefully later, I will get that video clip. I wont attach any photos for now, in the hope that they 'perform for the camera later'.

Day 69

18:27 Sunday Tea time
And what a gloriously sunny day it has been here in the south of England!

It must have been warm because the adult Siams, made their way out of the sun and into the conservatory to sleep. The ground in the back garden is so dry now, in stark contrast to the bog that it was a month ago.

Lily is still calling, which means that she is very agitated, and noisy, and as soon as the kittens fall asleep, she is running upstairs, grumbling and shouting, and disturbing them all.

They are however fast asleep, eventually at the moment, in the cat bed, in front of me, on my bed. Lots of little Chocolate noses, and one pale Lilac One. Dilly ( aka Skippy) has found her mum's unsettledness the hardest, as she is the most clingy out of the 5, before she settles for sleep.

The kittens have eaten plenty today, they really do have very good appetites, and I am very pleased with their lack of fussiness! Quite a few of them, will also sneak some of the food left out for the older Siams in the kitchen, I think it was Scarlett who hoovered up a whole bowl of their fish this morning.

They had some visitors today. Merri and Ella's new parents came to see them again today.

They were awake today, unlike last time, when they were sleepy. So Sue and Paul got a sneak preview of how lively they can get, although they were by no means at their liveliest. Their most active times are at 6 am in the morning, through to about 11am, and then after about 8pm at night.

I over slept this morning ( goodness knows how, as I was in my room, where kittens were flying everywhere), and did not get out of bed till 9am! By which time, I was being urged to provide breakfast, ASAP!!!!

These little ones are 10 weeks tomorrow. 10 whole weeks!!! And now we start the final preparations for those going to new homes.

Day 67

11:18 Saturday morning.
Well, things are much more relaxed in the house ( I do so hope that is not tempting fate!)

The kittens are zooming around the upstairs and downstairs ( apart from the lounge, as that is Percy's sole domain).

I am just not sure where they get their energy from at the moment. I am sure last night they were awake for about 6 hours non stop. 6 hours of small kittens racing up and down the stairs, and leaping on anything they can leap on.............they seemed also to like to use the litter trays as a sand pit, and had a mad half hour where they were leaping in it and scattering it everywhere. I lost count of the times I swept it up!!!!!!! I finally crawled into bed at 02:00 , once the babies started to slow down. And there they slept until 06:20 this morning. Where upon I got up and went through the normal morning routine of feeding and trays, and then escaped onto the top bunk in Richard's room, where I fell back to sleep, until 10:00. My last lay in though, until next weekend.

It is amazing how cosy that top bunk feels, when you are so high up and know that no little claws are going to leap on you from out of seemingly nowhere!

Lily and Gollum have forgotten their differences for the moment..............Lily is calling, Gollum is male, albeit a non entire male. So Lil has been flirting with him in the outside run, and Gollum has been responding. I have left them to it, as it means she has forgotten her babies, leaving the others to come and go in the house, without fear of her getting cross.

Fingers and paws crossed, this time tomorrow,

I am waiting to see which baby is the first one to work out how to use the cat flap to get into the conservatory.......

I will sign off now. Tomorrow, Merri and Ella's new mummy and daddy are coming to see them again, only 3 weeks now till they can take them home!!! So if I am very late with an entry tomorrow, you will understand, I will probably wait until after their visit.

Day 66

21:34 Thursday night
I feel as if I am in the middle of a war zone, I am sure I have written this about previous litters, only this time, I feel I am in a war zone on 2 fronts...........

The 4 older Siams, are in the conservatory, kitchen and outdoor run..........and they can only be described as in wrecking mode. Fluffy has already had my small stereo knocked off the kitchen shelves,

Gollum has had the laundry basket knocked off the shelves in the conservatory........

The kittens are swarming all over this downstairs room, on my keyboard, scaling my legs, scratching me to bits. Lily is wandering around grumbling at them..................

Thank goodness for g mail, and automatically saving what I have written, as at that point, one of the kittens leapt on the key board, and managed to log me out of this account............ahh, but it was saved for me!!!!!!!

I think I will sign off for a short while now, incase some other destruction occurs, I am feeling quite nervous every time I hear a noise.........

09:54 Friday morning
I got to bed eventually, and all calmed down, from about midnight till 6 this morning.

I put lots of heated pads in the conservatory and kitchen for the 4 older Siams, and the babies and Lil slept on my bed.

When they woke at 6am, I leapt out of bed, hastily opened up the outdoor run,

fed Percy, and then gently lifted him out the lounge window. The kittens were in the hallway going crazy, and it would have scared him to bits, so I though the window was the kindest exit for him!

Made sure all had food and litter trays were cleared out.

I then crept into R's room, and went back to sleep on the top bunk.

Which was funny, as at 7am, I heard him sneakily trying to turn his play station on, thinking I was in my room. I muttered the words,

'don't even think about it'

He muttered words to the effect that he didn't know I was up there, and grumbled, I laughed quietly to myself, and then went back to sleep for 2 hours, WONDERFUL.

And I think the penny has dropped with effectively getting the young and old together. And I am kicking myself that I have been so thick, I have not thought of this before!!!!!!!

What is the main problem to integration..............

Lily

Take Lil out of the situation, you get small hisses, but nothing to worry about.

Put Lil in the situation and you get an over protective mum.

So this morning, I let the young and old have a little time together without Lil, and it was much more relaxed, so I shall do this at intervals today. When they are all good buddies, Lily can join in, and the babies can have a trip to the outside run.

They are so big now and so full of mischief!!!!.

Day 65

10:23 Thursday morning
Well, I overslept..........my alarm went off at 7 as I had set it, but as I was in Richard's bed, and he with the kittens, I dozed off back to sleep. Every time I woke, I couldn't hear any cat sounds, so I assumed they were all happily asleep too.

However, when I did get out of bed, just before 09:00, I woke to find,

Every food bowl in the house licked clean, kittens and adults alike.
Litter trays well used
Every cat in the house, awake and raring to go...........

SO,

I hastily moved downstairs, put a sachet of whiskers kitten food on one of my plates from the cupboard ( quicker at this point to use my crockery than wash theirs), and gave it to the babies. They swarmed on it.

Hastily let Percy outside, put food down for the older ones at the same time as opening up the outside cat run. More food for the kittens up stairs, some Applaws this time, and I soaked a few dry biccies in some evaporated milk ( although I think Lil had this, which explains the rather strong smelling litter trays from her recently............)

THEN I started on the litter trays.

The kittens tray with Cat Attract, had been used to bursting, so that needed to be completely cleared out. No sooner was it cleared out, than they all leapt in it again. The 2 paper based small litter trays, had a small amount of usage.

Percy had his breakfast outside, with medication, which reminds me, I still need to clear out his litter tray.

Most of the kittens are still awake, Lily is grumbling and writhing around on the floor, as she is beginning her call. The older Siams are outside, in the sun. I put lots of throws on the ledges in the run, so they like to sprawl out on them.

So after I have written this, I will take some photos ( the battery is on charge at the moment) , try to sort out Rich and Tim, and of course me! And then we need to wander into town, as I have to get some school uniform bits for them.

At this point, I feel that my boys are being seriously neglected!!!! But then I remind myself of the wonderful experience they are having from helping to raise these kittens. Rich is almost 14, he displays all the normal attributes of a 14 year old lad, but he has a very caring side, and I have to think, that seeing 4 litters of siamese babies grow up, has to add to this caring side. Both of my boys, have been involved with caring for these babies from the first moments of their birth. Without their help, this would have been a lot harder. Although there are still plenty of times, when I have to imitate Lily, and have a rant !!!

Oh yes, before I sign off,

vaccinations yesterday.

They were very quiet in the car going, but it is only 5 minutes away.

In the waiting room, they were NOT quiet, and I sat with the large wicker basket on my lap, being attacked by lots of writing tentacles, with claws on the end. My hands and arms were scratched to bits.

They all wanted to get out of the basket and explore once inside the treatment room. They were all pretty good, apart from..........................

yes, young Skippy/Dilly ( sorry Catherine!!!). She protested at the needle, and I had to resort to cuddling her up in the towel that I had taken in. My poor vet had to discard his first vaccine and had to get her with the second attempt.

All the staff there wanted to look at the babies. They all admired them, and remembered them from when they were born there. I have to say, that Skippy/Dilly was the one they all coooed over the most. Everyone thought she was gorgeous and very pretty. So we forgave her for being a monkey with the vaccine!

They have all gone quiet now, phew, so time to go and get the camera out, now that the battery has some power.

I have decided on all names now ( which is jolly good, as I must get the registration form in the post today,

My wee girl is going to be called Timri Scarlett Haze
Timri Dame Dilly Skippy)
Timri Meriadoc Brandybuck
Timri Sapphira (another name to add)
Timri Ella (another name to add)

So, photos, registration form, and then feed and dress the 3 humans in the house!!!!

Day 64

11:53 Wednesday morning
I can finally sit down and write today's entry, as the kittens, and adults cats, have decided, that for the moment, it is time to sleep. If only we were also at liberty to collapse when they do!!! Only we have to clear up the devastation that they have left in their wake after a few hours of mayhem!

This includes cleaning out and bleaching their litter trays, sweeping up the large amounts of cat litter that they have liberally spread all over the floor......cleaning their food bowls so that they are ready for the next onslaught of eating, and then addressing myself to the other normal day to day house hold chores, of looking after my 2 children and trying to keep the house relatively tidy! And of course, digging out the camera, and hoping to get one or two good shots for today's diary. I decided against trying to photograph them while they were awake today, as you will have seen from yesterdays, it is not easy to capture them while they are in wide awake and full of mischief mode!

This afternoon, we have the vet visit, that I always dread. That 9 week trip that sees them having their first vaccinations and a good check up. My kittens have all been good and well behaved in the past, so fingers crossed for today.

Lily is starting to call again, poor love. Mother nature is unkind, making them call again so soon after having babies, this will be her second call.

But on the positive side, it does mean she will ease off on being the protective mother, which should make the process of integrating babies with the older Siams easier. it has only been Lil being on stern mother duty that has stopped them from becoming good buddies already. So with Lil's mind becoming focused on yelling her sweet little head off, I am hopeful of positive developments in the bonding front, between young and older.

The trouble with her calling now though, is that now they have the outdoor run, I will have to restrict her movements a tad, as the neighbours may not take too kindly to the large amount of noise she emits when she is calling.

Well, I am away now, to try to take, ahh, Tim has appeared, Timothy is going to try to take some photos for me this morning, so hopefully he will get a good shot or two.

Day 63

Tuesday morning 11:28
Well, it has been a bit longer than I intended, but Timothy's birthday yesterday got a bit busy, and I just could not find the time to write anything. And when I did sit in front of the screen on my lap top after mid night last night, inspiration on what to write, would not come, no surprises!

Tim had a friend over , and they were sleeping in the tent , and they were still chatting at 01:30, when I eventually fell asleep!!!

Richard was kind, and slept in my bed, as he said I needed some sleep. So he had the kittens leaping all over him ( there were still wide awake when I looked in at 01:30, so I was thankful to retired to the peace of his room), and I had the quiet of his bed. So I slept until he woke me at 08:30 this morning! I felt heaps better for that. You don't realise how lack of sleep really starts to creep up on you.

but I find it hard to sleep, as I know that when they wake at 06:00 they will want feeding, so I cannot lay in bed and sleep, I hate the thought of them being hungry. And I can hear them all in the litter trays, so I also hate the thought of them not being clean, so I always get up to see to them.

Which reminds me, the Cat Attract never turned up, so we are still on the tescos paper based cat litter. Which is cheaper, and it is good to know they will use it, but I wish they would not scatter it so liberally all over the bathroom floor!!!!! It goes flying, and I just have to keep sweeping it all up after them. They think the dustpan and brush is great fun........and leap on the brush and in the pan, while I am trying to sweep, this often results in the cat litter being spread around for a second time, so it becomes a long process. It is easier if I wait until they have gone to sleep sometimes before I attempt the chore.

When they are awake in the day time, they pretty much have my room upstairs, the bathroom, landing, stairway, hallway and front room where I am now. The older Siams, spend their time outside in the cat run, on the numerous beds I have put out there on the ledges. they love this fine weather. Either that or the conservatory, and their food is in the kitchen.

Occasionally they will wander into the other parts of the house, but they are wary of Lily, and she is wary of them, so they seem to choose to stay away.

Lil is absolutely fine with them all when she is out in the run, cuddles up to them all etc, she does not want them too near her little ones. So we have all learnt to accept that, and not fight it. She is a clever girl, the way she has got us all organised, just how SHE wants things run!!! Who says I am in control in this house..........

The babies are eating well, purring well, love being made a fuss of. Love the kids. Tim's friend who stayed over last night, loved them, and couldn't get enough cuddles.

And they are 9 weeks old now.....................9 WEEKS !!!!! Which means tomorrow they are off to the vets for their first real checkup, and their first vaccinations. I am not looking forward to that, but it obviously has to be done. Please spare a thought for them at 14:00 tomorrow.

The receptionists are really looking forward to seeing them all, as they have not seen them since the day that they were born, how long ago that seems now!!!

I will attach some photos across later today.
